Chapter 97

1

The LORD reigneth;1 let the earth rejoice;4 let the multitude of isles be glad4 [thereof].

2

Clouds and darkness [are] round about him: righteousness and judgment [are] the habitation of his throne.

3

A fire goeth4 before him, and burneth up17 his enemies round about.

4

His lightnings enlightened52 the world: the earth saw,1 and trembled.4

5

The hills melted8 like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6

The heavens declare52 his righteousness, and all the people see1 his glory.

7

Confounded4 be all they that serve6 graven images, that boast102 themselves of idols: worship100 him, all [ye] gods.

8

Zion heard,1 and was glad;4 and the daughters of Judah rejoiced4 because of thy judgments, O LORD.

9

For thou, LORD, [art] high above all the earth: thou art exalted8 far above all gods.

10

Ye that love6 the LORD, hate3 evil: he preserveth6 the souls of his saints; he delivereth55 them out of the hand of the wicked.

11

Light is sown7 for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

12

Rejoice3 in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks54 at the remembrance of his holiness.
