Chapter 129

1

A Song of degrees.
Many a time have they afflicted1 me from my youth, may Israel now say:4

Many a time have they afflicted1 me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed1 against me.

The plowers6 plowed1 upon my back: they made long52 their furrows. 4618

The LORD [is] righteous: he hath cut asunder14 the cords of the wicked.

Let them all be confounded4 and turned11 back that hate6 Zion.

Let them be as the grass [upon] the housetops, which withereth1 afore it groweth up:1

7

Wherewith the mower6 filleth14 not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves18 his bosom.

8

Neither do they which go by6 say,1 The blessing of the LORD [be] upon you: we bless14 you in the name of the LORD.
