Chapter 142

1

Maschil 7919 56 of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave.
I cried4 unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.101

2

I poured out4 my complaint before him; I shewed55 before him my trouble.

3

When my spirit was overwhelmed99 within me, then thou knewest1 my path. In the way wherein I walked17 have they privily laid1 a snare for me.

4

I looked54 on [my] right hand, and beheld,3 but [there was] no man that would know56 me: refuge failed1 me; no man cared6 for my soul.

5

I cried1 unto thee, O LORD: I said,1 Thou [art] my refuge [and] my portion in the land of the living.

6

Attend54 unto my cry; for I am brought very low:1 deliver54 me from my persecutors;6 for they are stronger1 than I.

7

Bring my soul out54 of prison, that I may praise53 thy name: the righteous shall compass me about;55 for thou shalt deal bountifully4 with me.
