The Book of the Prophet Isaiah

Chapter 6

1

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw4 also the Lord sitting6 upon a throne, high6 and lifted up,12 and his train filled 853 the temple.

2

Above it stood6 the seraphims: each one had six 3671 wings; 3671 with twain he covered17 his face, and with twain he covered17 his feet, and with twain he did fly.34

3

And one cried1 unto another, and said,1 Holy, holy, holy, [is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory.

4

And the posts of the door moved4 at the voice of him that cried,6 and the house was filled11 with smoke.

5

Then said4 I, Woe [is] me! for I am undone;8 because I [am] a man of unclean lips, and I dwell6 in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen1 the King, the LORD of hosts.

6

Then flew4 one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, [which] he had taken1 with the tongs from off the altar:

7

And he laid55 [it] upon my mouth, and said,4 Lo, this hath touched1 thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away,1 and thy sin purged.29

8

Also I heard4 the voice of the Lord, saying,6 Whom shall I send,4 and who will go4 for us? Then said4 I, Here [am] I; send3 me.

9

And he said,4 Go,3 and tell1 this people, Hear3 ye indeed,2 but understand4 not; and see3 ye indeed,2 but perceive4 not.

10

Make the heart of this people fat,54 and make their ears heavy,54 and shut54 their eyes; lest they see4 with their eyes, and hear4 with their ears, and understand4 with their heart, and convert,6 and be healed.1

11

Then said4 I, Lord, how long? And he answered,4 Until the cities be wasted1 without inhabitant,6 and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,11

12

And the LORD have removed men far away,14 and [there be] a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

13

But yet in it [shall be] a tenth, and [it] shall return,1 and shall be eaten:15 as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance [is] in them, when they cast [their leaves: so] the holy seed [shall be] the substance thereof.
