Bel boweth down,1 Nebo stoopeth,6 their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages [were] heavy loaden;7 [they are] a burden to the weary [beast].
They stoop,1 they bow down1 together; they could1 not deliver15 the burden, but themselves are gone1 into captivity.
Hearken3 unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne7 [by me] from the belly, which are carried7 from the womb:
And [even] to [your] old age I [am] he; and [even] to hoar hairs will I carry4 [you]: I have made,1 and I will bear;4 even I will carry,4 and will deliver17 [you].
To whom will ye liken17 me, and make [me] equal,55 and compare55 me, that we may be like?4
They lavish5 gold out of the bag, and weigh4 silver in the balance, [and] hire4 a goldsmith;6 and he maketh4 it a god: they fall down,4 yea, they worship.101
They bear4 him upon the shoulder, they carry4 him, and set him55 in his place, and he standeth;4 from his place shall he not remove:55 yea, [one] shall cry4 unto him, yet can he not answer,4 nor save55 him out of his trouble.
Remember3 this, and shew yourselves men:103 bring [it] again54 to mind, O ye transgressors.6
Remember3 the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; [I am] God, and [there is] none like me,
Declaring56 the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done,8 saying,6 My counsel shall stand,4 and I will do4 all my pleasure:
Calling6 a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken14 [it], I will also bring it to pass;55 I have purposed1 [it], I will also do4 it.
Hearken3 unto me, ye stouthearted, 3820 that [are] far from righteousness:
I bring near14 my righteousness; it shall not be far off,4 and my salvation shall not tarry:17 and I will place1 salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
