The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel

Chapter 4

1

Thou also, son of man, take3 thee a tile, and lay1 it before thee, and pourtray1 upon it the city, [even] Jerusalem:

2

And lay1 siege against it, and build1 a fort against it, and cast1 a mount against it; set1 the camp also against it, and set3 [battering] rams against it round about.

3

Moreover take3 thou unto thee an iron pan, and set1 it [for] a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set52 thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege1 against it. This [shall be] a sign to the house of Israel.

4

Lie3 thou also upon thy left side, and lay1 the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: [according] to the number of the days that thou shalt lie4 upon it thou shalt bear4 their iniquity.

5

For I have laid1 upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear1 the iniquity of the house of Israel.

6

And when thou hast accomplished14 them, lie1 again on thy right 3227 side, and thou shalt bear1 the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed1 thee each day 8141 for a year. 8141

7

Therefore thou shalt set55 thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and thine arm [shall be] uncovered,7 and thou shalt prophesy8 against it.

8

And, behold, I will lay1 bands upon thee, and thou shalt not turn11 thee from one side to another, till thou hast ended15 the days of thy siege.

9

Take3 thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put1 them in one vessel, and make1 thee bread thereof, [according] to the number of the days that thou shalt lie6 upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat4 thereof.

10

And thy meat which thou shalt eat4 [shall be] by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat4 it.

11

Thou shalt drink4 also water by measure, the sixth part of an hin: from time to time shalt thou drink.4

12

And thou shalt eat4 it [as] barley cakes, and thou shalt bake4 it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight.

13

And the LORD said,4 Even thus shall the children of Israel eat4 their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive55 them.

14

Then said4 I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been polluted:30 for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten1 of that which dieth of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came1 there abominable flesh into my mouth.

15

Then he said4 unto me, Lo,3 I have given1 thee cow's dung 6832 for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare1 thy bread therewith.

16

Moreover he said4 unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break6 the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat1 bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink4 water by measure, and with astonishment:

17

That they may want4 bread and water, and be astonied8 one with another, and consume away8 for their iniquity.
