The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel

Chapter 13

1

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,2

2

Son of man, prophesy10 against the prophets of Israel that prophesy,12 and say1 thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear3 ye the word of the LORD;

3

Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow6 310 their own spirit, and have seen1 nothing!

4

O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.

5

Ye have not gone up1 into the gaps, neither made up4 the hedge for the house of Israel to stand2 in the battle in the day of the LORD.

6

They have seen1 vanity and lying divination, saying,6 The LORD saith:7 and the LORD hath not sent1 them: and they have made [others] to hope14 that they would confirm15 the word.

7

Have ye not seen1 a vain vision, and have ye not spoken1 a lying divination, whereas ye say,6 The LORD saith7 [it]; albeit I have not spoken?14

8

Therefore thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken15 vanity, and seen1 lies, therefore, behold, I [am] against you, saith7 the Lord GOD.

9

And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine6 lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written11 in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter4 into the land of Israel; and ye shall know1 that I [am] the Lord GOD.

10

Because, even because they have seduced52 my people, saying,2 Peace; and [there was] no peace; and one built up6 a wall, and, lo, others daubed6 it with untempered [morter]:

11

Say3 unto them which daub6 [it] with untempered [morter], that it shall fall:4 there shall be an overflowing6 shower; and ye, O great hailstones, 68 shall fall;4 and a stormy wind shall rend17 [it].

12

Lo, when the wall is fallen,1 shall it not be said11 unto you, Where [is] the daubing wherewith ye have daubed1 [it]?

13

Therefore thus saith1 the Lord GOD; I will even rend14 [it] with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing6 shower in mine anger, and great hailstones 68 in [my] fury to consume [it].

14

So will I break down1 the wall that ye have daubed1 with untempered [morter], and bring it down52 to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered,8 and it shall fall,1 and ye shall be consumed1 in the midst thereof: and ye shall know1 that I [am] the LORD.

15

Thus will I accomplish14 my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed6 it with untempered [morter], and will say4 unto you, The wall [is] no [more], neither they that daubed6 it;

16

[To wit], the prophets of Israel which prophesy12 concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and [there is] no peace, saith7 the Lord GOD.

17

Likewise, thou son of man, set3 thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy102 out of their own heart; and prophesy10 thou against them,

18

And say,1 Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Woe to the [women] that sew18 pillows to all armholes, 3027 and make6 kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt23 souls! Will ye hunt25 the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive17 [that come] unto you?

19

And will ye pollute17 me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay53 the souls that should not die,4 and to save the souls alive15 that should not live,4 by your lying15 to my people that hear6 [your] lies?

20

Wherefore thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Behold, I [am] against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt26 the souls to make [them] fly,6 and I will tear1 them from your arms, and will let the souls go,14 [even] the souls that ye hunt26 to make [them] fly.6

21

Your kerchiefs also will I tear,1 and deliver52 my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know1 that I [am] the LORD.

22

Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad,53 whom I have not made sad;52 and strengthened15 the hands of the wicked, that he should not return2 from his wicked way, by promising him life:53

23

Therefore ye shall see4 no more vanity, nor divine4 divinations: for I will deliver52 my people out of your hand: and ye shall know1 that I [am] the LORD.
