The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel

Chapter 36

1

Also, thou son of man, prophesy10 unto the mountains of Israel, and say,1 Ye mountains of Israel, hear3 the word of the LORD:

2

Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Because the enemy6 hath said1 against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:

3

Therefore prophesy10 and say,1 Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Because they have made [you] desolate,2 and swallowed you up2 on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up11 in the lips of talkers, and [are] an infamy of the people:

4

Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear3 the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith1 the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate6 wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken,12 which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that [are] round about;

5

Therefore thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken14 against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed1 my land into their possession with the joy of all [their] heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.

6

Prophesy10 therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say1 unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken14 in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne1 the shame of the heathen:

7

Therefore thus saith1 the Lord GOD; I have lifted up1 mine hand, Surely the heathen that [are] about you, they shall bear4 their shame.

8

But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth4 your branches, and yield4 your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand14 to come.2

9

For, behold, I [am] for you, and I will turn1 unto you, and ye shall be tilled8 and sown:8

10

And I will multiply52 men upon you, all the house of Israel, [even] all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited,8 and the wastes shall be builded:11

11

And I will multiply52 upon you man and beast; and they shall increase1 and bring fruit:1 and I will settle52 you after your old estates, and will do better52 [unto you] than at your beginnings: and ye shall know1 that I [am] the LORD.

12

Yea, I will cause men to walk52 upon you, [even] my people Israel; and they shall possess1 thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more55 henceforth bereave15 them [of men].

13

Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Because they say6 unto you, Thou [land] devourest6 up men, and hast bereaved18 thy nations;

14

Therefore thou shalt devour4 men no more, neither bereave17 3782 17 thy nations any more, saith7 the Lord GOD.

15

Neither will I cause [men] to hear55 in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear4 the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall55 any more, saith7 the Lord GOD.

16

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,2

17

Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt6 in their own land, they defiled17 it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.

18

Wherefore I poured4 my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed1 upon the land, and for their idols [wherewith] they had polluted14 it:

19

And I scattered55 them among the heathen, and they were dispersed11 through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged1 them.

20

And when they entered4 unto the heathen, whither they went,1 they profaned17 my holy name, when they said2 to them, These [are] the people of the LORD, and are gone forth1 out of his land.

21

But I had pity4 for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned14 among the heathen, whither they went.1

22

Therefore say3 unto the house of Israel, Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; I do6 not [this] for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned14 among the heathen, whither ye went.1

23

And I will sanctify14 my great name, which was profaned30 among the heathen, which ye have profaned14 in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know1 that I [am] the LORD, saith7 the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified9 in you before their eyes.

24

For I will take1 you from among the heathen, and gather14 you out of all countries, and will bring52 you into your own land.

25

Then will I sprinkle1 clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean:1 from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse17 you.

26

A new heart also will I give1 you, and a new spirit will I put4 within you: and I will take away52 the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give1 you an heart of flesh.

27

And I will put4 my spirit within you, and cause1 you to walk4 in my statutes, and ye shall keep4 my judgments, and do1 [them].

28

And ye shall dwell1 in the land that I gave1 to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

29

I will also save52 you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call1 for the corn, and will increase52 it, and lay4 no famine upon you.

30

And I will multiply52 the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive4 no more reproach of famine among the heathen.

31

Then shall ye remember1 your own evil ways, and your doings that [were] not good, and shall lothe8 yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

32

Not for your sakes do6 I [this], saith7 the Lord GOD, be it known11 unto you: be ashamed3 and confounded10 for your own ways, O house of Israel.

33

Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed15 you from all your iniquities I will also cause [you] to dwell52 in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded.8

34

And the desolate12 land shall be tilled,11 whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by.6

35

And they shall say,1 This land that was desolate12 is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate12 and ruined12 cities [are become] fenced,7 [and] are inhabited.1

36

Then the heathen that are left11 round about you shall know1 that I the LORD build1 the ruined12 [places, and] plant1 that that was desolate:12 I the LORD have spoken14 [it], and I will do1 [it].

37

Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; I will yet [for] this be enquired11 of by the house of Israel, to do2 [it] for them; I will increase55 them with men like a flock.

38

As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know1 that I [am] the LORD.
