The Book of Zechariah

Chapter 5

1

Then I turned,4 and lifted up4 mine eyes, and looked,4 and behold a flying6 roll.

2

And he said4 unto me, What seest6 thou? And I answered,4 I see6 a flying6 roll; the length thereof [is] twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.

3

Then said4 he unto me, This [is] the curse that goeth forth6 over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth6 shall be cut off8 [as] on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth12 shall be cut off8 [as] on that side according to it.

4

I will bring it forth,52 saith7 the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter1 into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth12 falsely by my name: and it shall remain1 in the midst of his house, and shall consume14 it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

5

Then the angel that talked6 with me went forth,4 and said4 unto me, Lift up3 now thine eyes, and see3 what [is] this that goeth forth.6

6

And I said,4 What [is] it? And he said,4 This [is] an ephah that goeth forth.6 He said4 moreover, This [is] their resemblance through all the earth.

7

And, behold, there was lifted up8 a talent of lead: and this [is] a woman that sitteth6 in the midst of the ephah.

8

And he said,4 This [is] wickedness. And he cast55 it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast55 the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.

9

Then lifted I up4 mine eyes, and looked,4 and, behold, there came out6 two women, and the wind [was] in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up4 the ephah between the earth and the heaven.

10

Then said4 I to the angel that talked6 with me, Whither do these bear56 the ephah?

11

And he said4 unto me, To build2 it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established,90 and set90 there upon her own base.
