Chapter 2

erwtwmen de umaV adelfoi uper thV parousiaV tou kuriou hmwn ihsou cristou kai hmwn episunagwghV ep auton
2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and [by] our gathering together unto him,

eiV to mh tacewV saleuqhnai umaV apo tou nooV mhte qroeisqai mhte dia pneumatoV mhte dia logou mhte di epistolhV wV di hmwn wV oti enesthken h hmera tou cristou
2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

mh tiV umaV exapathsh kata mhdena tropon oti ean mh elqh h apostasia prwton kai apokalufqh o anqrwpoV thV amartiaV o uioV thV apwleiaV
2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

o antikeimenoV kai uperairomenoV epi panta legomenon qeon h sebasma wste auton eiV ton naon tou qeou wV qeon kaqisai apodeiknunta eauton oti estin qeoV
2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

ou mnhmoneuete oti eti wn proV umaV tauta elegon umin
2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

kai nun to katecon oidate eiV to apokalufqhnai auton en tw eautou kairw
2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

to gar musthrion hdh energeitai thV anomiaV monon o katecwn arti ewV ek mesou genhtai
2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way.

8

kai tote apokalufqhsetai o anomoV on o kurioV analwsei tw pneumati tou stomatoV autou kai katarghsei th epifaneia thV parousiaV autou
2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9

ou estin h parousia kat energeian tou satana en pash dunamei kai shmeioiV kai terasin yeudouV
2:9 [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10

kai en pash apath thV adikiaV en toiV apollumenoiV anq wn thn agaphn thV alhqeiaV ouk edexanto eiV to swqhnai autouV
2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

kai dia touto pemyei autoiV o qeoV energeian planhV eiV to pisteusai autouV tw yeudei
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12

ina kriqwsin panteV oi mh pisteusanteV th alhqeia all eudokhsanteV en th adikia
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

hmeiV de ofeilomen eucaristein tw qew pantote peri umwn adelfoi hgaphmenoi upo kuriou oti eileto umaV o qeoV ap archV eiV swthrian en agiasmw pneumatoV kai pistei alhqeiaV
2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

eiV o ekalesen umaV dia tou euaggeliou hmwn eiV peripoihsin doxhV tou kuriou hmwn ihsou cristou
2:14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ara oun adelfoi sthkete kai krateite taV paradoseiV aV edidacqhte eite dia logou eite di epistolhV hmwn
2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

autoV de o kurioV hmwn ihsouV cristoV kai o qeoV kai pathr hmwn o agaphsaV hmaV kai douV paraklhsin aiwnian kai elpida agaqhn en cariti
2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given [us] everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

17

parakalesai umwn taV kardiaV kai sthrixai umaV en panti logw kai ergw agaqw
2:17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
