Chapter 86

1

A Prayer of David.
Bow down54 thine ear, O LORD, hear3 me: for I [am] poor and needy.

2

Preserve3 my soul; for I [am] holy: O thou my God, save54 thy servant that trusteth6 in thee.

3

Be merciful3 unto me, O Lord: for I cry4 unto thee daily.

4

Rejoice16 the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up4 my soul.

5

For thou, Lord, [art] good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call6 upon thee.

6

Give ear,54 O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend54 to the voice of my supplications.

7

In the day of my trouble I will call4 upon thee: for thou wilt answer4 me.

8

Among the gods [there is] none like unto thee, O Lord; neither [are there any works] like unto thy works.

9

All nations whom thou hast made1 shall come4 and worship101 before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify17 thy name.

10

For thou [art] great, and doest6 wondrous things:12 thou [art] God alone.

11

Teach54 me thy way, O LORD; I will walk17 in thy truth: unite16 my heart to fear2 thy name.

12

I will praise55 thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify17 thy name for evermore.

13

For great [is] thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered52 my soul from the lowest hell.

14

O God, the proud are risen1 against me, and the assemblies of violent [men] have sought14 after my soul; and have not set1 thee before them.

15

But thou, O Lord, [art] a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, 639 and plenteous in mercy and truth.

16

O turn3 unto me, and have mercy3 upon me; give3 thy strength unto thy servant, and save54 the son of thine handmaid.

17

Shew3 me a token for good; that they which hate6 me may see4 [it], and be ashamed:4 because thou, LORD, hast holpen1 me, and comforted14 me.
